Cue Out

Post  Malcolm Boyce on Fri Dec 07, 2007 11:04 pm

Making the Cue Out so you can use the "Stereo" faders as a "listen" control for Monitors is one of the best things added in Version 2. It was one of the first things I went looking for when we first used a 5D for Monitors, and couldn't find. Now, it's beautiful!

Being able to mute mixes from the DCA faders is a beaut now with Version 2 as well for Monitor use.

The thing just keeps getting better.

I can't argue with the fact that V 2 rocks.

However, even with V1.0 you can use a bypassed effect unit as a patch point to route cue/monitor signals to Stereo A or B outs. You can even double patch the monitor outs to both Stereo A and Stereo B via the Insert patch. That way you can have a cue wedge for wedge mixes and a cue IEM transmitter for your ear mixes, with an independent fader for each. It sounds a little excessive, but it's nice to have sometimes. Even with the upgrade I like doing it that way.

Still . . . V2 rocks.

I am aware of most of the workarounds for the "cue out to stereo" deal prior to version 2.

They are however workarounds IMO as opposed to the more logical available patch in version 2.
