Replacing a fader Empty Replacing a fader

Has anyone replace a fader on a 5d. How hard is it? We have one fader that wiggles trying to find its place when you switch layers. Tried recalibrating the faders but didn't fix the problem. Yamaha told me it needed a new fader.

Replacing a fader Empty fader issues

Post  hjnebus Sat Dec 12, 2009 6:21 pm

never had to replace a 5D fader, but lost a bunch of M7 and LS9 faders. From what I understand it's a very similar assembly. a couple of solder joints tie fader pins to fader PCB. Think its like 6 of them.

Interestingly enough, Yamaha farms out fader production to 3 different manufacturers, and knows next to nothing about fader maintenance, other than to say vac them out and replace any bad ones. The conductive grease manufacturers use is a mystery. Anybody know of a lube that wont kill a fader? CRC and caiglabs products are a no go, according to yamaha
